Math and Science Academy is seeking a Theater Assistant Director for our 6-12 grade theater program. The Theater Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the director, choreography, and volunteer coordination for the Fall Musical, Winter One Act Productions, and Spring Play. This position starts as soon as possible. Required: Industry experience preferred. Reports to the MSA Activities Director Schedule: Includes after school, evenings, and weekends on occasion depending on production and rehearsal needs. Compensation: $4,000 to $4,500 based on experience. Payment is divided between three theater productions. FLSA: The MSA Theater Assistant Director position is an exempt, salaried position. The duties below are not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all duties and tasks performed by those holding this type of position. The Theater Assistant Director will: ● Develop and implement choreography. ● Teach fundamental skills, strategies, and techniques of dance and movement. ● Curate overall visual aesthetics for production. ● Curate and collect costumes, prop and set dressing. ● Manage student Set and Costume Assistants and community volunteers. ● Attend production meetings and rehearsals. ● Plan and organize small and large groups rehearsals. ● Provide guidance and support to actors during rehearsals and performances. ● Evaluate actors' performances and provide constructive feedback for improvement. ● Foster a positive and inclusive team environment. ● Collaborate with the theater director and staff to coordinate ensemble activities. ● Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
